Hi!!
It is my second day in Accra (the capital), leave to spend the day on the bus tomorrow to get to the hospital. I don't know whether there will be internet there so might not be able to write for a while!
Slept well on a matress on the floor in Eric's house. Then spent the day with Jane trying to change our traveller4s cheques and buy a phone. (mine won't work and it is blocked to put a new sim card in - if anyone can get me a code to unblock it let me know!) We walked for at least a mile down a road and each bank said try the next one, visited about 10 banks before agve up and got a taxi to the centre of Accra. Managed to get everything sorted eventually. Me and Jane are sharing a phone so will ring at some point but trying to work out how much it will cost.
About 70% of the cars on the road are taxis and every taxi beeps at us because we are white. The women can balance amazing amounts on their heads!! We had trouble finding somewhere to eat but eventually found a place that made us fried rice and a fish (with head!). It was nice. The centre is incredibly busy with lots of little stalls, no western shops in sight.
I will not write too much incase the internet breaks before I press send. The internet cafe is nice. It costs 15p per half hour but the kay board is split in the middle of the letter rows so it is hard to type.
Lots of Love
