So here goes my last blog! I wrapped up my travels with a trip to Santa Monica pier, which was a 2 hour bus ride from Hollywood. I saw the end of Route 66 so now I can see I've driven on it and been to the end! We checked out the pier and had a shrimp lunch at Bubba Gump (too delicious). I then took myself off to do the last bit of shopping. I treated myself to a few things but had to be sensible as my case was gradually bulging out of the seams so only small items could be bought :(. After the shops I went back into Hollywood where I was greeted by a mass of paparazzi... But they unfortunately weren't for me. It was the film premiere for a Johnny Knoxville movie called Bad Grandpa. I got a glimpse of him but no one else famous.
So the next day I had my flight home. I planned to come home a week earlier than expected due to a few reasons. But the main reason being that I wanted to end on a high. I have seen all I want to see and visited the most incredible places the country has to offer. I didn't want to stay there and waste money for the sake of staying an extra week.
I can't explain how amazing these last 7 weeks have been. People keep asking where my favourite place has been but I can't give a definitive answer because EVERY place I've visited has it's own unique qualities that make it so special.
However my highlights have been the places and activities I didn't expect to be my cup of tea- like camping and places I never knew. The friends I've made along the way will remain in my memories and I'm so lucky I've met such a lovely, diverse bunch of people from all over the world! I hope to keep in touch with most of them and have reunions all over!
