I'm currently sitting in Melbourne airport waiting to board my flight to Christchurch, am really excited but dreading the colder weather!
I've had a good couple of days in Melbourne, on Tuesday I went and did the Neighbours tour. Was so much fun, we got picked up by a proper Neighbours bus and driven to the Neighbours shop to pay for the tour. While we were there a mystery actor was meeting us for photos and autographs and it turned out to be Alan Fletcher, AKA, Dr Karl Kennedy! He was really, really nice, and if I do say so, quite sexy for an older man! I had my photo taken with him and he signed my postcard for me. Next stop was Erinsborough High, the drive was 25 mins out of Melbourne so we watched an old episode of Neighbours where Jim Robinson died of a heart attack. We arrived at the school and hung the Erinsborough High sign on the gate and had photos taken. We drove past the studios where the film most scenes and as we drove past, we saw the girl who plays Rachel, although now she has short blonde hair! We are only two months behind in Neighbours but they film four months ahead. Izzy has just left here and is pregnant with Karl's baby but the only person who knows is Paul Robinson! I heard from Alan Fletcher that him, Susan and Izzy are filming in the UK in November, so he obviously finds out! The reason Alan has a beard in the photo is because Dr Karl takes time off from being a doctor and becomes a back yard farmer for a while! Bit off gossip for you Neighbours fans!
The next stop was Pin Oak Court, AKA Ramsay Street! The street is actually blocked off for good to all as somebody destroyed Harold's garden a few weeks ago and now there's a security guard there 24 hours a day. It was so surreal being there, as I imagined, a lot smaller in real life. I met a lovely Scottish girl called Jen there and we took photos for each other outside everyone's houses and with the sign. It was such a good laugh! That night Jen and I met at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow pub for a drink with our voucher we got, it's a traditional English pub under my hostel. Really good!
Yesterday I did the Phillip Island tour and it was a long day - got picked up at 11am and dropped back off at 10pm. The first stop was a vineyard but the wine was pretty nasty! We then visited a sanctuary and fed Wallabys and Kangaroos, saw Koalas, Wombats, Tazmanian Devils and Emus. We also stopped at Seal Rock where over 50,000 seagulls live! Bloody vermin, at least they didn't poo on me! We also went to Sunderland Beach and sat there for an hour and waited for the Fairy Penguins to come in, they are the smallest in the world at 30cm and they were so cute! Saw loads and it was freezing, I had so many layers on but still went numb! Well worth it though. We stopped for pizza on the way back and I was in bed by 10.30, had to be up at 5.30am! More photos to be added when I have more time! By the way, my Oz number doesn't work anymore x x x x
