Hey guys Kate and lee here! Apologies for the long delay again there has just been so much going on, so will get a few entries done today. Well after leaving Udaipur we headed north to Jodhpur, Rajasthan. It was a five hour drive and the temperatures were getting way more intense. That particular drive was awful, when we put down the windows it felt as though we had a hairdryer in our faces. We basically had to peel ourselves off the back seats! We arrived at a lovely little guesthouse that did the best French toast ever! We arrived quite late so just lounged around, had dinner and met quite a few lovely folks. One person in particular was Rachael who was from Leeds. The rooms were all set around a courtyard which was just beautiful (see pics). There was a great communal dining table which was great for meeting people. Was a quiet night spent indoors and relaxing as had a big day at the fort tomorrow.
The fort was amazing. It was huge! Set upon a hill overlooking the blue city. We had an audio tour which I recommend anyone to get while visiting forts and palaces in India otherwise you end up looking like a lost pleb wondering….mughal who???? Kate had a picture taken with a Holy man smoking an opium pipe……clearly her favourite moment of the day. She didn't look anywhere near as cool as he did though.
We had heard Jodhpur was fantastic for shopping so lee and Kate got set to take on the shop keepers and get some bartering battles on the go.Lee finally got his big fat gypsy trousers he's always wanted Ali Baba style. Kate didn't do too bad either, guy wanted 650 rupees for a top but she managed to get the top and some gypsy trousers for 300 haha! That's roughly 4 quid!
Once our shopping was done we purchased what was meant to be Rajasthan's best samosa……Lee recons it defiantly lived up t its name…but Kate couldn't handle the heat!
Jodhpur all in all was good and met some lovely people. Owner of the guesthouse though kept the tips we left for the young lads but our driver had a massive go at him…got in the car and said "that man is BIG BLOODY b******"!!! Was like a scene from east is east. Fair play to driver Dave, what a legend.
