Wow we have really struck it lucky in a beautiful little piece of paradise right on the beach in Goa. We are at Arombol beach which is a hippy village and We absolutly love it here and have had some amazing experiences. A typical day starts around 11am where we wake to the peaceful sound of the waves crashing on the beach below our small bamboo hut that is perched ontop of a small rocky cliff facing out to the Arabian sea. We visit the local fruit market and gorge ourselves on fresh pineapple, watermelon and paw paw. We ride the coastline on motorbikes passing through small villages and slums before heading to the markets for some cheap shopping of clothes and nik naks. We take an afternoon swim then head into the forest for a walk eating nuts, having a mud bath and meditating under the Banyon tree. Nights are spent with other like minded tourists who are staying in the bungalow huts next to us and we all head to the beach restaurants for a feast of indian costing no more than 5 dollars. These restaurants are literally on the sand and when there is not a local band playing live, there is soft music of Bob marley or jack johnston playing in the background with no light but a candle lantern on each table. We walk the beach and observe the stars and either play cards and drink till the early hours of the morning or have a beach fire where we sing, have a go at fire twirling or play the bongos. Believe it or not i have become very good at playing the bongos but alcahol does wonders for you talent hehehehe...... We go to bed at around 3 or 4 am under a mosquito net with the sound of the ocean lulling us to sleep and the soft ticking of the fan above our heads.... Sounds unreal i know but it is truly refreshing and relaxing.... One of our german friends gave us a hammock as a gift so we also lounge on that during the day if it is too hot.....
Today is one of the boys 23rd birthday so last night we welcomed his birthday in with plenty of laughter, drinks and cards. We made it to 7:00 this morning and all crashed after watching the sunrise. It was magical.... We are all (the 8 of us) planing on staying here until the monsoons come around the begining of may... Things are starting to close down now because of the anual monsoons but we dont mind as there has been few tourists and the locals really enjoy having us here. It is fantastic and interesting talking to these people as they are from Israel, wales, norway and germany....
I often say to leif that I wish my family could all experience this. It is such a spiritual and fulfilling experience. I cant explain it in words.....
