Hello!!
So we're not actually in Sydney right now we're in Singapore but as usual I'll update you on what we've been up to...
So we spent around two weeks at Sara and Dans in North Sydney which was great as a) Katie hadn't seen Sara since 2009 b) neither of us had met Sienna and c) it was the first time we've visited Sara in Sydney since she's moved there about 5 years ago! So smiles all round ; )
We spent one day on a tour to the Blue Mountains which was really good. The Blue Mountains is a World Heritage Site and absolutely huge! There are probably species in the forest that haven't even been discovered yet. We saw the classic spots like Kings Tableland and The Three Sisters and walked down 1000 steps to get to the bottom amongst the trees. Needless to say what goes down must come up! Our legs were knackered afterwards! We decided to get the 'Rivercat' boat back to the city instead of getting stuck in traffic on the bus- which was really cool.
Not sure if I mentioned this before but we spent one evening at the 'starlight' cinema which is an outdoor screen basically. We watched "The Help' which is really good and it was made even better as we saw fruit bats flying overheard throughout the film : )
We also went to Manly beach which is full of surfers and young people who appear to just work out every waking moment! We had a nice swim and enjoyed lazing about in the sun with Sara and Sienna- a nice girls days out ; )
Fortunately we were in Sydney for Australia Day which we spent in the city at a place called 'The Rocks' where there were 4 stages of free live music. We discovered some excellent artists including- Emma Louise, Mark Wilkinson and Mojo Ju Ju- check them out! The night before was spent at Sara and Dans friends house drinking lots of wine and sambuca shots and playing s*** head! A great night although felt a little ropey all day!
We had a lovely time in Sydney- it's a really nice city but the time came when we had to say goodbye. Tears were shed as we said our farewells but hopefully we'll get to see them in the UK in June.
Our next stop was Singapore. The first difference is the temperature- very hot and humid which we're slowly getting used to. The food here is lush-lots of veggies and spice and flavour. The city itself is pretty big and has about ten thousand malls! But the best place we've visited is Universal Studios- oh yes! We had to splash out and go for the day as they've just opened a new 3D Transformers ride- which we went on 3 times because it was bloody brilliant!! We went on most things twice actually and had a great day there. It was something different and well worth it! The rest of the time here we have spent visiting temples and mosques and the different districts of the city which has been really cool. Singapore is really safe too so we've felt relaxed here. Our next stop is Malaysia where we will stay for between 2-3 weeks. So until I have some stories to tell I shall wish you all well.
Missing you all and love you all.
