Hey All,
Thought we'd update you on what we've been doing the last week as over the next week we're probably not going to have that much time to blog.
Highlights have been- Vic going up the CN tower and taking some brill photos!
A half day on Toronto Island swimming in the lake (which looked like the sea it's so big!)
Niagara Falls- We went on the maid of the mist boat and got up close and personal (although not as close as that tourist who died!).Down the road from the falls was an interesting street-a cross bewtween Disney and Las Vegas!- very bizarre! Although the Falls don't rank that high in world terms they are truly amazing, so powerful.
We've travelled for around 32 hours on the Greyhound bus to get to where we are now (Winnipeg). The bus is, erm, full of all walks of life shall we say?!? Some odd people but some nice people too. The rest stops are slightly unnerving too as gerneally they're in the middle of nowhere with hill billy/inbreds being the local population. Other than that the journey's have been smooth-ish. The drivers are very informative- quote '' We're running to schedule, just add on an hour and a half!''. Very informative indeed!!
Today we ventured to the outskirts of Winnipeg to a place called Fort Whyte. There we saw pelican type birds (!), loads of butterflies (lots of whites!), damselflies, dragonflies, and grasshoppers AND BISON! ooohhh, and prarie dogs which are very, very cute. It was a lovely place to go to get away from the town-especially as it was 33 degrees!Getting a nice tan so far : )
The people we've encountered have been very friendly and helpful which is nice
Unfortunately it IS very expensive here ($5 for a small slab of cheese! $2 for a dairy milk!!). But we have found a place called Dollarama aka the pound shop! Thias has been saviour and yes, we are eating food from a pound shop- desperate times call for desperate measutres. Our other food saviour has been in the form of Tim Horton's (Sarah Abel and cole - you were right!!) where we can get a relatively healthy breakfast for a couple of dollars.
Our next stops are Calgary (24 hours on the bus from here!), Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper. We'll stay a few nights in each of these places. We can't wait to get to the rockies and do some serious walking and photo taking. After that it's onwards to Vancouver where we hope to spend a day on Vancouver Island as well as see all the sights of the city.
We're having to use very expensive timed internet stations at the moment so can't afford to upload photos as takes too long BUT at some point before we leave Canada there will be photographic evidence of the above!
Love to all.
