I've come across the first city I doubt I will return to. This is slightly sad, but I don't have anything in Venice to return to, and to be honest, I got bored there.
In the morning wee caught a train to the boat area at the start of Venice where we were met by a boatman who took us over to the heart if Venice. Once there we had a walking tour of the city. This was really good and the history of the city is interesting, but it has now become somewhere that caters for tourists and not much else; hence my boredom.
After this, Myfy and I went up the Campanile to have a view of Venice. It was absolutely stunning and this is where I started to warm up to Venice. From the skies, Venice looked beautiful. All the roofs are the same colour, there are many churches and you can see the other islands just 'sitting' on the water. Very picturesque. We then had a delicious traditional Italian pizza before meeting back up with the group to go in a gondola ride. This was interesting and felt uneasy when the boat was on a lean as you felt like you'd tip over. The gondoliers are very skilled however and they had great skill to manoeuvre the narrow canals and traffic jams (yes, there were traffic jams!).
We then went through St Marks Basilica which has the most amazing mosaics! They used gold tiles which reflect the light so well. Sadly, no photos allowed inside.
And now, we got lost in the city of Venice! We somehow always made out way back to St Marks Square however. Ended the night with a delicious Italian meal and wine to bond over before going back to the hotel.
