There was this one time at band camp....
so onto keri-keri. keri-keri is one of those places which u happen to find my accident and wonder why ud ever want to leave. i think it started well when we got dropped off on the main road, disappeared into some trees and emerged into this glorious wonderland of quiet and calm. the buildings are all on one level and surround a lovely huge lawn. the main area has a well equiped kitchen, loads of reading, games, pool table, darts board and seperate tv/video room so u dont have to distube/ be disturbed. this may sound boring to u folks reading this, but to me it seemed a lovely place to hang my smelly boots and big bag for a couple days.
the town was a 10min walk and was an odd mix of takeaways and shops which should reside in the posh bits of london. but! it did have a new world, yay! ok, for those who dont know new world is a type of supermarket, for some reason the places i have gone dont seem to have too many and it means exspensive and not a wide choice. of course pak 'n' save is the best as is the cheapest, but new world ranks a very close 2nd. so its a lovely little town with a sense of a large oasis welcoming whoever is passing thro to stop for a while and rest weary feet. granted i dont realyl have weary feet as yet but i took them up on their offer anyhow.
it was only a breif stop so couldnt get out to see much, but spent a day walking to the stone store (historic sight) and the rainbow falls (see photo album). we headed down the hill to the stone house and saw the first missionary house in the area. it felt weird seeing this house knowing that basically we had come over to this strange land, told them they believed in nonsense and clubbed them with our bible talk. felt rude and i felt embarrassed in a way. i realise i didnt do that myself, but to have come from a country that did... anyway, thats a whole other story for another day... so crossed the river and headed off to the rainbow falls... apparently this is a 1:15min walk, we did it in 45mins thanks to tilly deciding that we would pretty much jog all the way (b****! lol). but i have to say it was worth the effort as u emerge from the trees to be faced with a gorgeous waterfall. its called rainbow falls due to the rainbows seen there, sadly i only spotted 2, teh record for smug guy who owns the yha is 8. i felt like lying about it jst to see his face, but he seemed a lil old to have his heart broken so harsly.
so yes, that was pretty much keri-keri, a lovely spot to stop at and underestimated in travel guides.
