So today I set off on my big adventure.
We left 13 Clover Close, Berwick at 0900 hours (GMT +10:00) and 8 hours later I have made it all the way to.................... yes, I have only made it as far as Auckland. I am already completely tired and feel like I have been travelling forever, and I have only made it across the ditch. Such a very very depressing though.
The airport departure with Mum and Dad was very sad, and I'll miss them both very much. The fact that I have been living there for the past year I think means that they will notice my absence quite a bit as I did spend the past year sitting between them on the couch in charge of the remote control. They wont know what to do with themselves!
But despite the sadness of leaving home and missing all of you, the journey has had 2 upsides so far.
No 1. Celebrity spotting. I had spotted my first famous person before I had even checked in. I think this bodes very well indeed for the future of my celebrity spotting. Lindsay Davenport, former women's no 1 tennis player was checking in at the same desk in front of me. She was there with her very cute baby and even cuter husband. So that was a bit exciting. For the record, she is very very tall and I am a midget.
Continuing on the midget theme leads me to happy event number 2. Travelling in business class. Now this has made the trip so far. I have so much leg room on the plane (because I am a midget) that an entire Ethiopian family could probably set up camp in the space. I can recline, eat reasonably good food, nice wine and relax watching movies and TV on demand. Very noice.
From here I fly to LA where I clear customs and immigration (hopefully...) and then on to New York. I don't arrive until midnight, so I am looking forward to seeing the Manhattan skyline from the plane, providing the weather holds out which is probably quite unlikely as they were expecting a high of 4 degrees celsius today.
Oh well, best continue to venture forth.
Love Kath xx
