Day 1: Nice France
Nice, France
So after roughly two days of travelling and making the airport our home Carley and I finally made it to Nice. Our first morning we set out to tour around the city, we started by going through the Old City, some of the markets and just wandering along the coast. After a morning of exploring we decided to settle in at a pizzeria for lunch before we set out to hike to the top of the park in Nice. At lunch we had an amazing meal with our very first European Pizza, and a nice glass of wine. That is until somehow a fork ended up stabbing Carley in the hand, landing about half an inch into her palm, therefore turning our first meal out into a rather dramatic one. After a trip to the pharmacy, help from the servers, as well as a very nice French lady from the table beside us, we somehow managed to save her life, and her hand. Not so surprisingly Carley has developed a new fear of forks.
After our dramatic lunch and regaining our energy from all the excitement we decided to hike to the top of the park, where there is an excellent view of the city. We then chose to relax in the park overlooking Nice before hiking back down. After hiking the mountain we decided we should reward ourselves with some gelato. Of course once we saw that Ferrero Rocher and Bailey's were options we decided to go with those. Once we finished our gelato we went down to explore the beach and grabbed seats so that we could continue to take in the amazing views that Nice has to offer. To our surprise while we were in Nice they were celebrating when the USA and Canada liberated France in World War II and had hundreds of classic army trucks as well as fighter jets celebrating the day.
Finally we decided to head back to our hostel and spend the rest of the day with all our new friends from all over the world. This night happened to be the last night for a group of 27 German music students therefore we got a free night of entertainment, with excellent performances all night!
