Stradebroke island....we had good weather so we went off yesterday, took the water taxi, then the bus to Lookout point I wasn't that impressed ....Pat took us on a walk around the gorge, we left at 5pm.
At the moment we're making plans to leave for Mooloolaba tomorrow, for a couple of days, it's only 2 hours car ride from Pats. After Mooloolaba we will head towards Melbourne and tour around for a couple of weeks... Hawks bay was great ,our hotel was on the Napier bay,our accoamidation ...a 2 bedroom appartment that looked out to sea. Napier is an Art decor town it was destroyed by massive earthquake in 1930 and rebuilt and is a very nice town in the heart of the wine making region of New Zealand. We spent a day at Cape Kidnappers it was named after Captian Cook...when alocal Maori attempted to kidnap a youny Tahitian boy from his ship the Endeavour. The Gannet colonies are , the worlds largest mainland gannet nesting site ,it was a site to behold as the tour bus reached the top ...there they were , bigger than I imagened I have put photos on the web.
We visit a few winerys ...tasted some nice wine ..ate some great food, had quite a few laughs with Lin & Mo.
I have eaten barramundi for the first time (fish ) oh boy it was tasty... must go now breakfast a waits, love to you all xxxx

Another sunny day in Oz, It was nice to talk to our kids on the 2/2/04, We are here in Brisbane ,sitting around making our holiday plans so they can all be fitted in. Melbourne will be our first destination, off on saturday, taking 3 weeks for this journey, we will travel in Pats car, stoping on route at some wonderful sounding places. Today we're sorting our cloths ...booking flights for the trip to Ayers Rock...Alice Springs...Cairns which is taking place from the 30/01 /05 ....we will take 10 days for this trip...before we leave Australia to go to Singapore, it all sounds so very far away,no doubt, time will fly by. We are going to Stradebroke Island on Friday this is only 10 mins. from Pats home, we go over on a water taxi !! should be a fun day , Pat said its a beautiful Island with the whitest sand. time to go I will write more later I want to tell you about Hawks bay..xxxx

Kia Ora Kath & George, Good to hear that you arrived safe & well in Oz, bummer about the delay. We had a great time staying in Auckland. Yummy breakfast in Mission Bay looking through the pohutakawa tree still red with flower through to the sea - sun was out by then. Went walking all morning, first around the bays of eastern harbour and then in Ponsonby which have some of the oldest wooden houses in Auckland. Said that you probably should have visited as there was plenty to see. Our hotel down at the water front by the America's Cup Village, on the 10th floor with views across the harbour and bridge. Girls were well behaved for Lin & Mo, we got home at 11am this morning. Taken all the decorations down today, mowed lawns and will head over to the beach tomorrow. Mo at golf while we talk. Thanks for sharing fun times with us in NZ, enjoy Oz & look forward to all the news. Love all the NZ whanua xxx

Hi All, I can see that K&G have not updated for the last few days while they have been travelling in the Hawkes Bay so I thought I would give an update on their behalf. We arrived home from the airport with Lin & Mo and what a beautiful day it was felt like summer had finally arrived in NZ. Kath was upset after the song in the internet cafe & talking to all the family at Xmas. So we opened the new bottle of Bombay Gin,sat in the sun while me & the kids swam in the pool. First night that we had been able to sit outside for dinner & we had a great time over our BBQ meal - Kath had recovered and was able to share some hilarious stories of bedroom moments with Mo - I believe George still had a smile on his face. Following day after another present opening session we had brunch in the sun, the old men cooked a delish eggs & bacons. The ladies relaxed in the sun by the pool while us men braved the sun as we wandered the golf course enjoying some detours along the way.
The odd couples have been down in the Hawkes Bay the last two days, hoping to taste some of the wines at the vineyards of the area. THey organised a visit to the Gannet Colony, something about some of Kath's relations live out there. They all head home tonight for NY's, we have all been sick (K&G have caught it as well) so we probably have a quite night and celebrate in the UK NY over lunch bubbles tomorrow.
Happy 2005 everyone!!
