Yesterday we drove up to Leeds to visit family, Martin's poor old Prius groaning with a bootful of cases (well a girl has to pack for all possible weathers up north) and the bikes on the back which ruined the aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. I struggled to reach 60 uphill whilst maintaining economic fuel consumption and was overtaken by an articulated lorry. Felt like a true pensioner.
Today we walked around Waterloo Lake in Roundhay Park which i believe is one of the largest parks in a city in England. Meant to google or wiki it for verification but no longer need to be rigorous scientist so didnt get round to it. However it is a fact that the lake which is pretty big with 2.6km perimeter was built by soldiers returning from the Napoleonic Wars presumably to give them something to do (hence the lake's name) and keep them out of trouble in a pre-welfare state age.
