We had a Sunday morning in Manaus and explored the most enormous street market i hve seen with locals out having breakfast on tables set up in the closed off roads. Bought some Amazon flower honey as the honey here tastes of a thousand flowers and sunshine, just hope it doesnt burst during the rest of our travels!
Finally the curious mixture of dehydration and cerebral oedema is settling as instead of water we have started to drink more juice and the local equivalent of coke made from guarana berries which may well just be coke without the colouring. Martin has recovered from having a tarantula crawl up his arm to his neck bitten painfully by ants and me from being covered in ants, thankfully not biting ones, after i foolishly put my hands on the nest as suggested by the guide as he assured me they were safe and when you brush them off your hand you have a sweet resin smell, trouble is they re all over you before you know it.
The port at Manaus is bustling with people carrying goods on backs and heads down to the sand and to brightly coloured boats clustered around single rickety docks often requiring balancing across the water on a plank as we discovered when we arrived the day before. Hopefully some photos to follow when we hve wifi.
At midday we left for the airport to fly to Salvador on the east coast.

Minna Maryanov Manaus and Saalvador are two of my favorite spots. It was lovely getting the blog. Minna
Ellis F I think you have found yourself a new career as a travel writer. I have only just returned from holiday and have not completely read your blogs but the bits I have read have a professional air about them.
