There are so many different types of projects to get involved with -- it's apparent though that I have a talent for choosing those that it turns out are in really dangerous places and/or situations...so, following the guidance of sensible friends (thank you!), I have eliminated all of the ones that would immediately have me hiding under my bed upon landing (assuming I had a bed, as with many of the potential options I wouldn't have).

At a future time, I would though like to re-visit being involved with some of the projects I've come across in my research. For example, one "project" that simply due to timing and logistics I don't think I'll be able to join this time, but that I would love to be involved with in the future is run by the Mondo Challenge Foundation in Tanzania.
