Cooking class, dog cafe and Nanta Theatre!
Since I took a Japanese cooking class when I was in Kyoto last year, I thought I should try one in Seoul too. And I wasn't disappointed. The meals you prepare and cook are simple to do, but for me this is good as I'm not exactly a good chef at the best of times. We prepared Kimchi (we used cabbage) but that needs to be left to ferment for a couple of days so she cooked some she had made a week or so ago into a pancake mix for us. We also made Bulgoli which is a tough meat that marinated then fried up with some onion and leek. We sat down and ate it when it was all made, and I have to say I very much enjoyed the Kimchi pancake! The meat was too tough and stringy for me. But it was a great experience.
On the way back to the hostel I took a detour and went to Bau House dog cafe! Which is awesome. Some massive dogs with paws the same size as my hand, and ittle ones that more like clouds of fur (very cute). I spent my time there with the 'big dog' section. They were all very friendly, some would sit on your lap or rest their head on you. The husky puppy was a bit more manic! Running around, licking people's faces, playing with the other dogs (although was a little nervous of the Alsatian!). You don't have to pay to enter but the do sell coffees, teas, smoothies ect. The dogs are well groomed and socialised so you don't feel threatened by even the largest of them.
Unfortunately time was ticking so I had to bid my farewells to the fluff balls and go back to the hostel to get ready to go to Nanta theatre show!
I wasn't totally sure what to expect, but I was delighted by the show. A combination of cooking, fire, knives, throwing ball pit balls, lots of comedy, a dash of romance, a spell of martial art fights (including looping two whisks together to make nunchucks), silliness and audience participation makes for a great show! And it was almost totally non-verbal. A big percentage of what was spoken was high pitched nonsense so that suited me well! I laughed so much my stomach hurt. Highly recommend to anyone.
Afterwards I had dinner in the neighbourhood in the form of dumplings at one of the hugest rated Korean restaurants on TripAdvisor. Now the menu is VERY limited (as in there's 4 options) and I went for the dumplings which were delicious.
Then I had a good wander in the shopping areas in search for sunglasses (mine were broken by a dog). Which was harder than I though it would be. But EVENTUALLY I found some and snatched them up.
By this time I was shattered so when I got to the hostel, I quickly packed a bit (leaving for Daegu tomorrow) then was crashed out, asleep in bed.
