The following day we were quite exhausted after our evening with the American Storm boys and now quite familiar with the strip, we decided that we could justify a day by the pool. The weather was ideal and the idea of baking in the sun appealed to us both. Clearly it doesn't require much description, but it was a pleasant day. They provide you with big fluffy white towels, sun beds and a cocktail waitress who brings you whatever you need. Fab.
That evening we headed to Monte Carlo where we ate in a really nice Italian restaurant before walking up to Treasure Island for the Cirque du Soleil show, Mystere. It's quite difficult to explain how completely amazing the show was...it starts and you think it might be funny (and it is in parts) but then it just completely floors you. To imagine that there may be a couple of people in the whole world who have acrobatic skills like the performers in the show is possible, but the fact that it is made up of a cast of 100s from all over the world is unbelievable. These people are utterly fearless and bendier than should be humanly possible. There were acrobats, contortionists and dancers, clowns, balancing acts and people who could seemingly crawl down perfectly flat walls from the (very high) ceiling right to the floor. Much as I hadn't wanted the American Storm show to end, this just put everything into perspective and made the previous night's activities seem vaguely ridiculous. If you ever have the opportunity to see one of their shows, take it. Take my word for it, you will love every second. When I get home, if they come to London, I will be going. I wouldn't consider myself a fan of circus acts, but this was in a league of its own...Absolutely magical.
Anyway, advertisement over! We left the theatre truly awe inspired, aware that we were due to leave Las Vegas the following day, each of us silently wondering if we could afford to extend our stay another night...x
