Merced was the insignificant little place we based ourselves in, in order to visit Yosemite National park. We found ourselves in another Motel 6 (this one apparently filled with truck drivers.) We settled ourselves in with the TV and decided to get up relatively early in the morning to make our way to the park.
We were extremely lucky with the weather. I actually put shorts on! We weren't aware at that stage that because of the roads in the park, if the weather looks even the slightest bit hazardous they close all the roads...Anyway, I really don't know what to say about Yosemite. It sounds a bit trite to say that I don't have the words to describe it, but I really don't think I do. I've never seen that much beauty on that big a scale. We were surrounded by the tallest trees and the most massive monoliths rising out of the ground. We took loads of photos, so I'll upload them asap and hopefully they speak for themselves. On our way out of the park we headed up to Glacier Point which is at 7000 ft elevation. It was truly breathtaking. And cold! Think you can see this form the photos...x
