After Milford Sound we drove south to Invercargill which was pretty run down and not very interesting. We didn't stick around and drove straight on to Dunedin. From Queenstown, we drove south to Te Anau which is where we based ourselves to visit Milford Sound. When we left Franz Josef we headed down towards Wanaka passing through Fox Glacier (which was tiny!). Wanaka was a really nice town on the edge of a lake which had a backdrop of huge snow-capped montains and was really just a mini Queenstown without the crowds!
