K+K Travel Adventures
This morning we made our way to the Leonards Leather shop where some of us struggled to stay awake from our adventures the night before and where some of us stayed hungover in bed.... Nonetheless, I pranced around Florence still wearing the same clothes from the night before and stumbling in ankle breaking shoes....grrr. I made a few purchases at the leather shop for my loved ones and even managed to by myself the coolest puzzle ring which I still struggle trying to put back together. Strangly enough I met an employee from Portland, OR who moved to Florence a few years ago and never left. Imagine that.
Using my uncomfortable shoes as an excuse to by more I headed to my favorite shoe shop by the duomo and managed to find the cutest ballet flats and sandles. With just enough time to head back to Piazza Signoria, I joined my group for the most horrible walking tour of Florence--I think I could have done a better job. Nonetheless, I had fun gossiping with those about the night before.
After the tour, Lonne and I headed to lunch near the leather shop where we were greeted by the best panini and milkshakes ever. Deliciously full and exhausted from not only the night before but the angry bee that refused to leave us alone we headed to chemist for some stye medicine for my eye.
I know some italian but not enough to explain the infection in my eye....what an adventure.....I finally made my purchases and met others for a cab ride home to Hotel AutoPark.
Kirsten: I'm not going to lie. When i woke up this morning i was not feeling so hot, but i knew that i was in Florence, and i had to do some shopping at sightseeing as it was our last day. After a few hours in town, and a couple visits to the toilet or nearest trashcan, i new i was officially hung over, so i headed back to the hotel autopark (how fancy, right?) for some amazing and much needed rest. I awoke recouperated and ready to go for our tuscan dinner and subsequent nightclub excursion.
Kat: After a few hours of rest we readied ourselves for our family style dinner at La Certosa. Or group headed out and was greeted with a group photo at the Piazza della Michelangelo. After some glamour shots we were once again treated with a welcome drink--blue or red, which do you like? Apparantly the red is campari and the blue is a champagne mixture. We definatley decided on the blue and smiled at the waiter for a few extra glasses.
Dinner was delicious for those who chose to avoid the fish heads and meat.
Kirsten: its true, that made me want to vomit. I had some delicious ravioli though.
Kat:The wine was flowing and the entertainment amusing as our tour guide was whisked of her feet by a great ballroom dancer and Kirsten getting attention from a certain waited who doubled up her desert.
Kirsten: (trying to plump me up so he could eat me)
Kat:After everyone was drunk enough Andy (bus driver) piled us on the coach and took us to Space Electronica--a cheesy nightclub. Of course this was not without crank the 70's hit, "I will survive", which we all sang at the top of our lungs and of course Andy made his way through the round abouts in which Andy circled three times (stopping short to avoid Italian police).....funny now though, as hardly anyone remembers our circles through these things......
Kirsten: I don't remember this happening at all. i think i was busy taking drunken bus pics, which you should definately all check out!
Kat: We headed to Space where we given a welcome drink and a drink card (of which we could make purchases on credit card...YIKES!) And headed to the dance floor. However, trying to avoid creepy Italians that were insistent on groping Contiki women, Mona and I headed for what appeared to be an Italian Free zone....however, it was actually a VIP room of which we convinced the bouncer to let us stay....GO US!
Wearing out our welcome in the room, we headed back to the floor and the contiki pole (a pole that all us girls had a great time dancing around). Dancing lasted until about 3 am. I spent my night avoiding the Italians and using Josh (Nashville boy) as my safety net from vicious men (however, even then, some men managed to find their way over....grrr.) We managed a taxi home and headed to bed where we would accept a wopping four hours of sleep before we headed off to Lucern. YEAH FIRENZIA!!!!
Kirsten: Its true, the Italian men would not give up. I don't know how many times i had to say no, but it was bad. Some cute boys in the smoking room tho, whom my chats with were cut short when my waiter friend arrived. he decided that i was his for the rest of the night, and didnt let many other men talk to me. i guess it was probably better that way tho. i definately was still drunk when i woke up to leave for lucerne, but i had memories of a great night in florence.
