Welcome to Singapore!
We arrived yesterday morning and met Becky at the airport so now all three of us are travelling together. But before I launch into an account of Singapore I thought I should round things up about Bali.
In our first two weeks at Bali we travelled around and saw a lot of temples and other attractions, unfortunately this left us with another two weeks with not a lot to do. My favorite attraction was probably Tanah Lot, which was a temple in the sea that you had to walk through the sea to get to so could only reach at low tide. At this temple I was blessed by a Hindu priest while Karli sat on the rocks. I drank Holy water and had rice stuck on my head. We then watched the sunset, which was the main attraction but was just like every other sunset.
On our last night we went to a club called Bounty 2 (which is the rebuilt club from the 2002 bombings) and made friends with the local break-dancing crew, who taught us, kinda, how to break-dance. It was so funny seriously watching Karli try to break dance is probably the funniest thing I have seen in my life. There was then a mass dance-off in the cllub and our friends were absoloutely amazing, but some other people were landing on their faces and things it was so painful just to watch.
"ganstaaaaaaa" (Karli's contribution)
So me and karli are now officially part of a break dancing crew in Bali, they told us that we were B-girls now and showed us how to do the correct 'gangstaaaaaaaa' poses, which we showed Becky who was rather unimpressed.
When we eventually tried to leave Bali, we discovered that we had over stayed our 30-day visa by 2 days, so when we arrived at customs and imigration we got taken aside, into a little stock room with a desk and two chairs with an immigration officer. It felt like we were about to be interorgated and have intense lights shined into our eyes. He turned out to be really nice cos when he charged us we were like 'we don't have enough money' and he let us just pay with what we had. we were both so irrationally scared that we were going to go to prison, even though we had already been told that all they would do was charge us!So now we are here in Singapore in our hostel after staying one night in our fancy hotel with hot water! They had big dressing gowns and slippers which I pranced about in the whole time (even when the fire alarm went off and there was the possibility of an evacuation I still didnt take them off). We were all so tired so after dinner we just went to sleep. So today is our first proper day in Singapore and we are about to go out to lunch then see where the day takes us. This is probably the cleanest and most well-dressed city I have ever been in!
Anyway, will update later, speak soon
