The waiting is over. Over 5 months of preparation, at last, 24 hours to go till setting off on my volunteer adventure in The Philippines.
The final weekend, I had my extended family come over my house for lunch and it was nice to see them one last time before I jet off. I have finished packing my bags and it was hard to put the lists of what I need to bring with me! For instance, I wasn't sure whether to bring laptop or not and in the end, I decided not to bring it. It is because I got my Galaxy S4 and it got everything I need: note, internet, news, email, games, and so on. I'm sure they will provide laptop once I need for projects. Nevertheless, I got everything on my checklist especially passport and I couldn't hold my excitement for tomorrow to start off my adventure!
Tomorrow at 1pm, I will arrive at the VSO office for pre-departure training and meeting with my fellow volunteers. We will travel together to Heathrow airport and I was hoping that we would get on a minibus to the airport, but no, by tube! It is going to be a nightmare journey considering the number of luggage we will carry in the tube. But at least we will arrive at the airport in London-ish style!
The flight (Qantas A380-800) leaving at 21:30 evening and will be stopping at Dubai for two hours before flying (Emirates 777-300) to Manila, the capital city of The Philippines. We will then take domestic flight to Cebu, a new home for the next three months! It will take me 18 long hours from London to Manila, bloody hell! Let's hope in-flight entertainment offers a high quality, and this including subtitles on every movie! The first week in Philippines will consist of in-orientation training to get know more about our projects, and its community. I am so look forward to seeing my Filipino counterpart who I will spend with for the next three months.
So, now I'm packed and I'm all ready for tomorrow. I think I am going to have a sleepless night!
I'm off to have a hot bath! My next blog will be in The Philippines so keep eyes on it!
