G'Day!!
At present in Byron Bay, on the East Coast of Australia. Arrived yesterday afternoon and leave tomorrow for Surfers Paradise (Apparently named after a pub rather than its surf credit).
So.......been in Australia one week and already done some amasing things. Had 3 days in Sydney but have left the exploration for when I go back there over new years. All I can say is despite being a beautiful city it is very expensive and very, very big. Constantly feel like a lego piece. From Sdyney I started the first leg of my journey up the East Coast. At present I am travelling with two other girls who are also on the OZ Experience tour.
First stop of the journey was Spot X surf camp for two nights. A beachside campsite just outside of a small town. So far from the community that we all had to pile in the van each evening to make a bottle run for the nights activities. I don't like to be judgemental but the surfers there certianly lived up to their stereotype. Friendly, fun people though. The norm at the camp is to party hard (drinking games, dance offs, pole dancing, limbo etc) and be in bed by 12pm ready to catch the waves early the next morn. YEEOOWW!! Had two surf lessons while I was there and have two bright red knees to prove it. Managed to just about stand on the board a couple of times though spent more time in the water than on the board. Highlight!!!! First experience of an aussie beach....skinny dipping under the full moon!! When in rome!!
Moved on up to Byron bay, another chilled out beach resort. When we arrived took a walk along the beach and found all manner of creatures washed up on the shore. Jelly fish, Portugeuse man of war and even a turtle. Hitting the beach this afternoon and then going to walk up to the light house, the most Eastern point in Australia. I will be one of the first people in OZ to see the sunset.
Leave for Surfers Paradise tomorrow. Apperently named after a pub rather than the surf credit that it has. Interesting.
Must go and catch the rays!!
