Hallo!
Our last day in Venice was just spent walking about- I bought the cape and mask. We finally had a decent meal in Venice too, italians do pizza better than pasta. The night train to Salzburg was relatively uneventful, we had the carraige to ourselves for the last few hours so managed to get a bit of sleep!
Our hostel was more of a family place than what we're used to. The kind of place you'd stay in on a school trip. As we were there so early we got a fair few things done. We took a cable car up to the top of a mountain and stood in the snow for 10 minutes before coming back down as it was freezing and my shoes haven't got enpugh grip to walk on the snow! We then went to a zoo, although it was a bit rubbish- they didn't even have penguins! As it came to the afternoon we went to visit the Stiegl brewery, a rather dull tour on how beer is made followed by 3 free small beers, free snacks and a free bottle of beer :) we ended uo spending the whole afternoon there!
As we were in Salzburg we felt the need to watch the Sound of Music. I'd never seen it before and wasn't really impressed, but its all you see in the tourist shops! Well that and Mozart chocolates (which aren't good).
Today was spent loking around the town. It's more what I imagined Austria to be than Vienna was. Lots of shops selling dirndl and traditional looking pubs :)
we're actually in Munich now bit I didn't want to post from here seeing as we've only just arrived
