cherbear's world travels
Okay on this day alot of my friends were going into Seoul to watch a soccer game. Well, I didn't want to go because I am not a big soccer fan. Instead I headed over to Suwon to meet a friend of mines. I called him the day before and asked him did he have any plans for saturday. He didn't so I left for Suwon. I got off the train and went inside the train station and called him. He hadn't left for the station yet...so I just went outside and waited for him. I was out by the smoking section it was so gross, besides the smoking all the people hacking and spitting everywhere so nasty...So my friend arrived about 45 minutes later. Then we headed out. I told him I was hungry so went went around the Suwon station looking for food. So, funny he didn't really know where many places where, cause he's not from Suwon. It was so crowded. I hate crowds too. Finally we just walked out into the town and found a bar-type of place that had some chicken. We just settled and ate there. We spent a long while there just talking and catching up. We hadn't seen each other since June. We soon departed and headed back to the station. Why because I wanted to see a historical place. Unfortantely the tourism office for some odd reason was closed. So, I suggested that we look on the net for someplace. We hopped on online and searched for someplace. After finally looking we seen this palace. The palace was called hwasung. Before we arrived there, we had to cross the street and while I was walking this old lady grabs on hold of my pants. I was like WFT?! Then she walks off. Then I thought she was mad, I thought that I had made her fall. Then my friend explained to me that no, she said that because of me she didn't fall. I felt a little better after that.
Okay, we found Hwasung palace. It was connected to this huge park. It was so many people there. OMG Hwasong palace was so huge. We walked through the park and of course folks were staring at us. Nonetheless, we found the area where u can walk on top of the wall. So we walked around up there I took some pictures up there. We found this really cool looking cannon and we took some pictures there. Then, we headed off.
Next, we headed back to into town. I agreed to a movie but the first theater didn't have any english movies. So we headed back to Suwon station. Found the theater. Turns out that you had to wait till they called your number to go purchase. We had to wait for about 45 minutes for the movie to start.
Almost two hours later...we came out of the movie. The movie we seen was called "The Lighthouse" Ironically that movie was based on a korean movie. I think that the korean version would have been better. The american version was very boring. I ended up falling asleep during some parts of the movie.
Okay, it was getting late so my friend found a local motel for me to stay in. I couldn't stay with him because he lives in a dorm. I checked in the motel right down the street from his school. I settled in the motel and he wished me a good night.
I got up around 10:00 a.m. and I called him and told him that I was getting ready to go back to the train station. I got up and walked out to the taxi stop. I caught a taxi back to the station. I didn't have enough money for the taxi...I was 4,000 won short but he let me go. Thank GOD. I prayed and headed inside the station. I got lost at first and then finally found where I was suppose to be. Then the nice conductor man found a seat for me and then he came back and told me when the train was getting ready to leave. I managed to find the right train and soon I was on my way back to my school.
Once I arrived back in Asan. I just happen to come across two of my friends that were coming back from Seoul. We headed back to school together. That was my adventure in Suwon. Aside from all the staring that we got from everyone...hehe maybe they were all wondering why such a handsome guy was with someone like me?!
