What a stunning day! And what amazing weather with 2 days to go until it’s officially Spring in Europe (apparently...) The Beast from the East, as this particular Siberian blast of arctic weather has been christened, arrived last night and the snow was just starting to fall when we went to bed - with no expectations of much really - though we knew it would be a cold night. It was -3 degrees (C) when we woke up with the wind chill factor taking it down to -11. The winter wonderland was sublime and with camera in hand and PJs tucked into my ugg boots, I raced out to take as many photos as I could in the early light (followed by as many photos as possible when the sun came up, as pictured the view from the dining room, and then a few more photos at lunchtime. This is the Mediterranean... and I was in sheepskin boots, 2 jumpers and a fur coat taking photos. There hasn’t been weather this extreme since, since... oh right... Hurricane Ophelia in Ireland last year. The dogs think it’s amazing, it’s what their woolly coats were invented for (and the fine day is a huge improvement on the wet week we’ve just had). The cats are 1000% less than impressed as the snow, 8-10 inches of it, is deeper than they are. Enjoy the pictures and think of us tonight when the temps hit -7 or more.
