March 2020. Without a doubt, the longest calendar month in the history of humanity. Particularly the last 3 or 4 days of self-isolation. Rather impressively, by the time we were out and about, the pool and spa had been closed - not because the virus can survive mega doses of chlorine mind you... but because people are certifiable eejits and were still playing, sitting on laps, having larks around pools nation wide. Apparently just having a solo swim is beyond the capabilities or ken of vast swathes of the nation. Anyway. Freedom was fabulous! We got up at the ungodly hour of 5.30 am and walked down to Broadbeach for the sunrise of the century. Astounding, outstanding and downright superb. We walked about 10,000 steps that day - 5000 in the early hours and another 5000 that night - the beach would have been lucky to have had 20 people within a kilometre of us. A stunning dusk. We had James's mum over for a visit on Freedom Day and we went out and picked up fish and chips to have on the balcony - the simple pleasures indeed. Things to do now that we're free? Umm... flu vaccine? A walk around a hopefully deserted Pacific Fair? Go to a supermarket? Restock the bar? The options are endless...
