Today was my last day in Bohol so Elaine and I got up early and once again were treated to a feast of hot cocoa, omelette, vegetable patties, sweet potatoes, fried fish and Pappaya.
We had organized to meet up with Alex and Lorenzo at a village nearby and do a hike up the highest hill in the village. This was my first time riding a scooter in the Philippines and after a month at home I had a bit of trouble adjusting to riding on the right hand side of the road. On the way to the hill it started to rain very heavily and within 5 minutes we were completely soaked we decided to continue anyway. On arrival Alex and Lorenzo were not there yet, we waited and waited and after an hour decided to leave - only to run into then on the way back. Because it was still raining we decided to head to Palouin a beach on the other side of the island where hopefully it wouldn't be raining. Luckily it wasn't and we had a beautiful swim on a very white sand beach, we then sat down and had a picnic lunch before the rain was to start again. It's like monsoon over here so much rain it is annoying. We headed back to the city and then to Elaine's to pack for my boat trip to Siquijor tonight!
Elaine wanted me to try some typical Filipino sweets so we tried a banana and coconut dumpling thing which was very good and another potato like cake thing. We also tried dried fish that is fried and served with vinegar.
I caught the ferry at 8pm and 4 hours later we docked at Siquijor Larena. The ferry was jam packed full and was anything but comfortable but for $4 was good value. I found an Inn straight away for a very cheap price and got some sleep.
