Well after a generally good nice sleep ( Poor Nige still recovering from bad cough so bit interrupted ) up for lovely breakfast and first sight of our hotel as it was dark when we arrived last night!
It is a beautifully restored Nepalese Heritage Hotel originally built and bought by a Mr Dwarika and is a wonderful retreat from the general hubbub from the city itself despite being in the middle of it all.
This morning we walked over towards the old bit of Kathmandu through various neighbourhoods ...... Very segregated in so much as trades go. We walked through motor , medical, housewares, electrical areas, cosmetic areas.
The old part of Kathmandu is a heaving Web of little streets full of little traders selling their wares although none of them put any pressure on us to buy.
The aftermath of the earthquake is still very apparent throughout but particularly in Durbhar Square where it hit quite badly. We certainly have not seen many tourists today and are yet to meet another English person! There are a few Americans and French in our hotel but not seen many or heard any tourists out on our travels today.
We arrived back in our hotel in time for a relaxing bath and then out for a typical Nepalese dinner at a restaurant within the hotel which was an absolutely delicious 6 course menu including the famous Nepalese Mo Mo's we've heard about and worth all the rave reviews on trip advisor !
We plan on a trip back to Thamel tomorrow morning and a visit to the Garden of Dreams before heading off to our meeting point for the start of our trek tomorrow evening which is just outside of the centre of Kathmandu.
Off to bed ......zzzzzzzz
