Julie's Travelling Tales
This is the loveliest city in Asia, I want to put it in my pocket and take it home, along with Wellington! As well as having the best, friendliest, loveliest hostel with delicious icy air conditioning, a blessing in the thirty plus humid heat, it is charming and friendly and seems small, even though its actually bigger than Kota Kinabalu, the biggest city in Sabah. There is a high proportion of Chinese here, so I dined on my first steamed buns and tried all sorts of crazy teas, including salted plum, which, despite being a big fan of the ol' fruit, tasted like a salty gargle my mother used to force on me in times of respiratory illness. All good learning experiences, huh?!
