WELL WE ARE FINALLY HERE
we wear told it would be about 26 to 28 hrs to get here from vang vieng in laos....hahaha as if!
we went on 6 different busses firstly a couple of really gross ones and then a nice sleeper bus where we had a bed and pillow and cover ect... we evan got given some water n some dodgy cold rice but it was free so cant complain ....
then we got a flat tyre and thats held us up for ages...luckily we just stayed snuggled in our beds.
we wear then dropped off sum where full of mini busses and wear sent to a mini van. but non of them wear for us so we was wondering what the hell was going on......they wear people making phone calls for us and lookin at our tickets strange... eventually a bus came and we had to squeeze 10 of is an 8 seater with out backpacks too... thats was fun!
then we got dropped off with another 2 girls in the middle of nowhere and told a bus would come in 10mins.so we sat there an waited in the scorcinh heat waiting and no bus came.... well about 40 mins later this smelly little bus came for us and took us a but further on our trip
then we had to leave laos and walk over the boarder with our backpacks in the scorchin heat and enter cambodia. was around $28or summot.... was very random u had to pay a random $ here n there and pay for havin your temprature checked ect... it was a right ordeal
after crossing the boarder and arriving in cambodia we then got on another bus which was full and there wear about 12 of us without seats and we wear told we had to sit ion the floor in the aisle because there wasnt another bus .... 2 hrs later and lotsa cramp later they bought us some plastic chairs for like 3 yr olds... whats a joke... especially after 24hr travelling and been told we would be on there for another few hours ...lol
thankfully as time went on people eventually started to get off so we had a seat and we finally got dropped off in phnom penh at 10 30pm .... only 33 hrs after we set off...whata journey!
we got in a tuk tuk with a couple of cockney lads that knew a guest house.... all 4 of us crammed in with our backpacks ...it was a squeeze and we had to stop off for $ too which made it worse....talkin to the guys we found out that had just finshed studying in huddersfield uni. small world eh.
we ended up in okay guesthouse $12 a nite and its okay.... its very hot here....
UPDATE
we went for really long walk on the riverfront and it seems all the locals meet up there to play games and dance ect.
we we ended up at paddy rice irish bar where there was live music and laura managed to get her 2nd cider of the trip and it was magners. she was well happy until we saw the price $6.50 and compared to my local beer at $1.50 thats steep..... im makin my way thu all the local beers.... all good so far....
next day we was up bright and earlie to go to the famous killing fields at Choeung which used to be a chinese cemetry but was used as a a torture area and mass graves for about 3million local educated people during the Khmer Rouge regime between 1975 to 1979, was very sad but interesting. many off the mass graves have been dig up and the bones/skulls and clothes have all collected to be preserved as it is the biggest thing in cambodian history... they are all in a specal monumant . we walked around the graves but could still see some bones and clothes coming to the surface. we paid a few $ to have a guide and his family wear all captured and killed and luckily he managed to escape... he was just 17 at the time. how sad
after this we went to the Tuol Sleng s21 museam. basicly this used to be a school and while the Khmer Rouges army wear ruling they changed it to a prison where they would torture for people for months sometimes b4 talking them in truck loads to the killing fields to be tortured more and killed in some horrific with allsort of weapons... they evan used the leaves from this tree because they are sharp like a sword or they held small children and babies by the legs and swung there head on a big tree and in to a grave in one movement. some wear evan still alive when they wear thrown in graves with up to 450 other bodies. eak! its awful
we have booked a bus to siem reap this evening. we are happy its just 6 hours this time and got it for a bargin $7...
the guest house we are staying in has arranged foi us to stay at there new build posh hotel for the same price of $12 a room as theyve only just opened it a few week ago.... cant wait.... it had a pool......
