Hey everyone!!
Sorry about the huge delay on updating the blog, we aren't very good at this are we?! We haven't really stopped since we last wrote on the blog, its been a bit crazy but lots of fun!
So we went sailing round the Whitsunday Islands last Friday to Sunday! Was amazing and the weather was scorching! Headed out on a very nice boat called 'Silent night'! There were 2 crew members and 12 guests so it was a lovely number! Some of the boats take out 40 plus and I hate to imagine how cramped it is on those boats. Julie and I were lucky enough to have a private cabin, which didn't really consist of much but meant we weren't sleeping in the kitchen like the rest of them! We left at about 2pm on Friday and sailed out to our overnight stop. Saw a turtle and the we managed to even raise the sails and do some proper sailing! I even participated in some of the hard work which was lots of fun!
We arrived at our overnight stop at about 5.30. We managed to have a lovely walk along a deserted island just as the sun was setting. Absolutley beautiful! Got back on the boat to be served Nachos as a pre dinner snack and the drinking under the stars began! Dinner was chicken and veggies, yummy! We spent the night sat up on deck making new friends and we were even lucky enough to hear some dolphins playing around our boat! Was lovely!
Managed to get a reasonable nights sleep and was up at 6.30 the following morning. Managed a quick brekkie and we were off to our first snorkelling site! Saw loads of fish and saw THE biggest fish, I am not even exaggerating, it was HUGE! Its called a maori wrass if you want to have a look! Was a tad scary but all good fun!! Stopped off for another snorkel but after seeing a lot of jellyfish I got straight back on the boat! Not my cup of tea even with a stinger suit on!
After a yummy lunch we made our way to whitehaven beach which has to be the most beautiful place in the world. The sea was the most amazing turquoise colour and the sand was pure white and so fine! It was great and we have some great pictures! Spent a couple of hours here and it truly felt like paradise! Wish you could have all been there!
We made our way to our 2nd night stopover which was a lovely bay, with great views. We had lasagne and garlic bread which went down a treat! Had some more grog (wine) as the aussies like to call it and sat chatting and watching the stars! I got to see my first shooting star which was very exciting! I was also on dolphin watch but they didn't want to play! Boo!
Had a pleasant sail back the following day and arrived back into Airlie Beach at about 11am! All in all it was a great trip! Good company, great food, average wine, fantastic views and cracking weather! What more could we ask for! The crew were great fun too and I adopted the name kazza!
Anyway we are now in Brisbane and leaving tomorrow to get down to Byron Bay. Spending one night here and then taking the overnight bus to Sydney. Got just over a week here and then we are on our way home!!!
Will do a seperate blog for our fraser island trip!
Hoep everyone is well, missing you all lots
Lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
