Koh Lanta
Hi all
The boat over from Krabi was ok but the taxi bike dropped us off at the completely wrong place. On Koh Lanta there is a long stretch of coastline that has about 4 beaches that are worth checking out. We wanted to go to the second one 'Long Beach' but got dropped off at the first one. We only realised after walking around trying to find our accomodation and realising it was about another 10km south! I had met up with a girl called Bernie who is from manchester but works at Bolton General Hospital! About 5 minutes from where I live, everyday the world gets smaller and smaller. We had also joined forces with Sam the Canadian and Ouvre the Finnish dude. We all jumped back on the taxi bike/sidecar thingy and headed further down to Long Beach and our accomodation - Andaman Sunflower. It was a really nice place which would have been expensive for me on my own but me nad Bernie shared a room so it worked out well. Everywhere was expensive and fully booked in Koh Lanta, it is the peak season for them and I could see why as the weather was gorgeous. I decied to spend the next 2 days chilling out and walking along the beaches which went on for miles. Koh Lanta was quite a quiet place generally which was nice, but then in the evening it was like a totally different place as there were some really good bars playing dance music and reggae, obviousley. On the saturday night I headed to Opium who were showing all the footie games and sat down at the bar. As soon as the lad next to me ordered his drink I had to ask where he was from - Radcliffe! Nic - he lives just down the road from you. Turned out to be a Manchster United fan, but I decided to overlook that fact as it was great to meet Northerners - always got something in common. The guy who owned the bar was from Norwich (no wonder he moved to Thailand, ha ha) and told me that the next night was the bars 6th anniversary and they were having all the full moon party Dj's playing. Jaime and Stacey had arrived and so we decided we would check it out the next night.
The next day, just as I was writing my journal for the second time, the electricity went on the whole Island. All the shops, restaurants and bars closed. We had no power in our roomsand this also meant no water. We had all been at the beach all day and hadn't eaten. Everyone from the guesthouse gathered together with candles and brought out any spare food and drink they had. We had crisps, crackers, mento's and Barcardi Breezers, I just went and got my mp3 and speakers and what do you know, we have a party. Four hours later the electricity came back on, we had light, showers, food, alcohol and not all in that order and then a party to go to. The party was really good, great Dj's and lots of dancing - Nic, Kim - I had 3 Italian's doing the routine, they loved it!
I was meant to leave for Koh Phi Phi the next day but couldn't face the boat ride for some reason so I decided to stay with Jaime and Stacey chilling in the sun and watching dvd's at night.
Just need 1 good night's sleep then I'm ready to head to Koh Phi Phi, can't wait I have been looking forward to Phi Phi forever..........
Lots of love Jules x x x
