Happy Birthday Donks! I sat with her whilst she opened her remaining pressies. The Kangaroo Dundee book and pink zinc lip stuff seemed to go down very well and my efforts running around Adelaide had paid off!
I cooked scrambled eggs with smoked sausagey bits in it and served it on vegemite toast and topped with grated cheddar. All of Donk's favourite things on a plate! Whilst we were in the kitchen we had a wallaby visit the water which we had put out for them in the garden. We were transfixed, it was a very exciting moment!
After brekkie we headed down to the beach to make sand angels, an idea that we had come up with many months ago, following a previous snow angel incident (ask me if you are interested!). Our mission was successful.
We headed off to Andermel Marron, where I had reserved a table for lunch. I was navigating on the way which was interrupted by water on the road... See pics! I got out of the car to assess the situation and we decided that, in the absence of any 4x4 capacity we would take the long way around. We later discovered that the floods remained from winter (July) of the previous year. After kicking up some good red dust on some gravel roads we arrived a very fashionable 50mins late!
We enjoyed good Marron for lunch, which I had as Paddock and Pond, which was served with a lemon myrtle and wine wine creamy sauce. It was delicious and the Marron was so moist and tender. Definitely worth the drive! We then went to see the living relatives of our lunch and saw a few that were trying to escape out of the tanks.
After our drive home Donks hit the beach, whilst I lay in the garden reading my book. I went for a very long walk along the beach to the right as far as I could go and I saw a lone dolphin playing in the shallows. We had a nice supper and a bottle of sparkling Shiraz. Followed by some fairy cakes that I had made the previous evening and that Donks artistically decorated using the edible sparkles in the packet. They were 'interesting' as I'd had to use olive oil in the absence of sunflower oil. But it was Donk's birthday and we had cake! The day was topped off by another garden visitation from a family of wallabies, including some young ones who were play fighting.
