Since our last blog entry we exploed Bangkok, risked our lives three times on a tuk tuk (OH MY GOD!)...beats any Alton Towers ride!!!
We wndered through the streets of Bangkok which seem to be very basic living for the large part with lots of shanti type house and shops all 'home made' with random shops intertwined selling anything from lawnmowers to plastic nets to pipes! It was nice to see how people actually live although not many other tourists seemed to be doing this- they seem to be using taxis (but as i'm travelling with a northern accountant this is not an option for us ;o).
We then visited Wat Po and the Grand palace which were very beautiful. In the evening we wandered over to Siam Square which is a slightly more upmarket area of Thailand than where we are staying. However, following this we progessed into the red light district of Bangkok which was certainly interesting (and addesses have been noted for superblade ;o). I've never seen such a variety of shows on offer and certainly never knew some of the things were possible to do with your bits!!! eek!
The food is good over here - Chris is loving the spicyness!! I'm adapting?!
Saturday eveninge we took the overnight sleeper train from Bangkok to Surat Thani (a suposed 10 hour journey that took 13 hours!!... and we complain at Britains transport system!!). Anyway this was all good, quite clean and comfortable but despite this neither of us managed to get a wink of sleep!!! On arrival at Surat Thani we got on a bus for another hour to the ferry port and travelled on a boat over to Ko Samui which is where we are now. We are staying in Chaweng on the east coast of Ko Samui and are heading to La Mui today for a nice rest on the beach :O) Beaches are gorgeous here, unfortunately its been ruined behind the beaches by the huge influx of English bars and tourist areas which we are trying our best to avoid.
Weather is much more bearable here as it colls down a little in the evening so we are not constantly sweeting unlike when we were in Bangkok - Nice!
Hope you are enjoying the snow back home, thinking of you ;o)
Anyway, thats all for now we'll write again soon.
Thanks for all your messages :O)
