Tuesday 17th August - Franschhoek to Clanwilliam
Distance: 345km
Day 2 - we started the day by continuing north through the Winelands, eventually reaching the end of the asphalt road at the country town of Ceres. Onto a gravel track and continue to wind our way through the beautiful Cederberg mountains and stopping for lunch in a beautiful "oasis" on the track, then entering the southern parts of the region known as Namaqualand with its semi-desert environment.
We passed through Wuppertal which is a very quaint Mission village. On through valley after valley covered by flowers, the tracks a little bit rocky in places, over a pass and down into the small rural town of Clanwilliam to our accommodation for the night Clanwilliam Lodge (which had a very interesting wet room!)
