Another early start but today we were walking the local wetland walk from the lodge and were joined by Chris and Sal who wanted to see what they had missed from their DIY walk yesterday. After breakfast I sat outside and did get to see the tufted eared marmosets feasting on the bananas. We saw lots of forest and wetland birds and yet another sloth, which looked like a brown ball, sleeping in a secopia tree,
(see bird list on 30/7/12 for all we saw)
When we got back at 1 ish after almost 5 hours birding we decided to have a relaxing afternoon - I went for a snooze on the sun lounger followed by a swim in the lovely pool - medium sized but it allowed me a good swim........John had a longer snooze in the bedroom. At about 4.30 we went for a walk around the lake and returned to the spot where all the egrets come in to roost at dusk - it was spectacular watching them along with a few cormorants come in waves and perch for the night - often squabbling over the best spots. The whole scene was amazing as alongside the egret spectacle the sun was setting; the bats were out eating insects and the capybara were getting into the water and splashing around on the other side of the lake.
Back to the Lodge for another excellent dinner and an early bed!
