After a bus and a boat trip which took the majority of the day we arrived in Koh Phangan and checked in at our guest house, which was situated on the beach. We arranged to meet Toby and Darius the next day for some food and a drinking session as it was the night before the full moon party! During the day though we just sunbathed, topping the tan up. The four of us went for food in Haad Rin next to the lads hostel, we all had a curry. Shock! We then met 3 girls that the lads knew from home and we all went to get our first bucket of the night which consisted of Sangsom Whisky, coke and red bull and headed to the beach. We had a great spot on the beach around a bench listening to the various DJs. At this point we were all starting to get a bit excited about the night ahead, Darius in particular! J went off to get some more drink and come back with a 5 litre bucket full of whisky, coke and red bull. We all tucked in to our buckets and soon there was a few of us dancing on the table. J got chatting to a few Thai girls on the table next to us and quickly found out that they were actually Ping Pong girls and 1 of their names was 'Chicken' we all found this very amusing. So after some pictures with the famous girls our memories start to fade.... After some time dancing on the beach we headed to the pool party at Coral Bungalows, it was a bit of a walk out of town and packed!! So packed we didn't fancy it too much so tried to find our way back in to town in search of food. After finding some we waited a little while for a taxi back to our guest house which was 3km out of town down the most hilly, windy road. It was quite a funny ride, but also scary when you haven't had a drink, when we say taxi you just sit in the back of an open jeep like car which had home made sides on it!
The next day Rachel felt like death and had to spend most of the day in bed recovering to make sure she could make it out for the full moon party. The day mainly consisted of only getting out of bed to eat at the restaurant at our resort. After a sleep we arranged to meet the boys again in Haad Rin to get some food, everyone was feeling a bit rough from the night before. After a nice dinner we went back to their hostel to start body painting. Everyone for the full moon party wore fluorescent clothes and paint, not sure why but it was funny. The girls then joined us and we all headed to the beach again, getting another 5 litre bucket before. The entrance to the beach was crazy! So busy you couldn't move but when finally we pushed through the crowds we headed up the beach and found a podium where we spent most of the night dancing but we remember the music not being as good on the first night. We hadn't bought our camera out as rumours were rife about stealing and it being really dangerous but we never felt threatened so then later on in the night the girls said they were going home for a 'nap' Rachel quickly went back and got the camera so we managed to get some photos. At the end of the night it was just us 2 and Darius left with the aim to stay up until sunrise, we didn't quite manage dancing till sunrise, leaving the beach to get food and then making a quick dash home before it kicked in!! 14 minutes!! By the time we got our taxi it was the morning, we had a shower to get off all the paint which ended up being really hard to scrub off we crashed out, getting up about 2pm. We then went back in to Haad Rin to arrange our transfer to Bangkok with the boys and again of course grab a cheeky curry! They are delicious here, really spicy but so nice! And the cheapest thing to eat.
Our transfer to Bangkok was at 11am, it would consist of getting a boat and 2 buses. The boat ride was pretty sketchy. The amount of people on it was crazy at least 300 and it wasn't particularly big boat, we managed to get a good spot on deck which meant we could get fresh air unlike the people herded downstairs. It lasted 3 hours. We then got a coach to our overnight bus which would take us to Bangkok, arriving at 7am. However we were 3 hours early and arrived at 4.30am with nowhere to go. Luckily the boys had been in Bangkok before so knew where we were. We walked to Koh San Road and found a guesthouse just off it which would let us check in at 8am which was great. We only had 3 hours to waste so headed to McDonalds and wasted a lot of time in there. When we got our rooms we slept for the morning as none of us had much sleep on the bus. In the afternoon we walked around Koh San Road area, we booked our transfer to Cambodia and Rachel got a manicure, while Toby was getting a well needed haircut! There was so much to buy on Koh San Road Rachel was excited to get back to Bangkok at the end of the trip and shop!!
