Lets Go Truckin!
Welcome to ZION...
Its another canyon, sure , but a whole world away from GC - small, steep, red and green, not snowing...
We decide to go for the best views in town by climbing Angels Landing a precarious route to the top of a rocky outcrop at a bend in the river. Not helped by the force ten gale that was blowing, but we don't let that kind of hazard get in our way! Worth every step, even those when we were crawling on hands and knees (mostly Louise it has to be said).
We wanted to walk The Narrows into the mouth of the canyon at the top - you walk in the river itself, but its freak weather year here this year (wouldn't you know it) and they've already had the most rainfall on record so far this year. So the river was far to high and too cold for even us to attempt it. We went to take a look at what we could have done, and caught two deer taking swimming lessons to cross the raging river. ahhhh.
Next stop - more canyon action at Bryce tomorrow.
Hope it warms up! L & J X
