Haven´t really felt like sitting down infront of a screen lately and updating my blog. But I´m a nothing port town in Guatemala where theres nothing to do for the night accept wait to travel tomorrow. I´ve been so in the moment for the last week it feels weird to write about it in the past already. Alot has happened since last week, i covered way more ground then I had originally planned but thats generally how my travels end up.
From El Remate I bused into the nearby Tikal Ruins, easily the most impressive Maya ruins in Guatemala and possibly the most renowned of all Maya Ruins. The site is dominated by 5 giant temples, steep-sided pyramids that rise up to 60 metres from the forest floor. The rest of the sight is scattered with literally thousands of other structures. We had been told by our hotel manager in El Remate that it was possible to pay a friend of his to sneak us in past the guards in the early morning to watch the sunrise from the top of Temple 4 ( the tallest temple ). So thats exactly what we did. We slept in hammocks on a campground near the park entrance and our so called guide awoke us at 4am to begin a 45 minute hike to the temple. when we arrived it was still dark and the jungle still asleep. we turned off our lights and listened to the jungle awaken as the sun came up. from the top of the temple we were looking down on the jungle and the sounds we amazing. Some birds sound like they were out of Jurrasic Park or something. Tired from the 4am wake up we walked around Tikal for several more hours before calling it quits at 10am. the rest of the day was spent having a well needed siesta. amazing day i will never forget!
more to come on after tikal but i must go eat dinner before everything closes!

Konnor Dude, Tikal sounds sick. Stoked to hear more.
Gram Sounds fantastic Jord. That's where we were headed when our road was blocked by the trucks stuck in the mud. We had planned to stay in the Treetops in hammocks...glad that you did it for me! enjoy! xxx
DAD Keep us posted and stay safe. You know the drill by now.
Dad Hope you had a Happy ST. Patrick's Day! You have some Irish in you. Enjoy the full moon and write soon.
