OK we made it to our destination.
Sit back and relax as i tell you the fun we had on our 18 hour bus ride!
We were meant to be picked up in Hanoi at 6.30pm but this is Vietnam so it was 45 minutes late. We got to the bus and thank god it looks nice and has a toilet. so the engine starts and then... nothing we are just sitting there. The bus didnt leave for another 2 hours! it just waited to see if any other bus companies were full and they could get more people on. we finally left, i got my book out and the driver turns all the lights on. Ok so i wont read. Then a tv comes on its a Jean claude van damn movie badly dubbed in Vietnamiese!! its so loud that no one can sleep and i can barely hear my ipod!
After 3 crap movies whgich we couldnt understand the driver then puts on Vietnam disco music 1995 its so bad! and still really loud. after12 he turns the music off, at last.
I had a quite good sleep then at 6.30am the music was back with vengence! we stayed on the bus to Hue. We were going to stay there for a night but when we read the guide books they all said not alot to do in Hue. so we got on to another bus. with all the locals lying in the aisle. we went past the DMZ (demilitrised zone) and Denang.both didnt have much to offer. Finally we got to Hoi an. it sounded nice and we had both had enough of buses so we got off.
The bus dropped us off at a hostel, which we thought would be a rip off butafter shopping around it turned out to be the cheapest and nicest one in the tourist area, $7a night. First thing i wanted to do was have a shower and clean my teeth. which made me feel abit more human.
we had a little walk around and saw all the nice places to see. also Hoi AN is famous for tailored made clothes. 5 years ago there were 8 now there are \something like 180! i went on the internet to get a few reviews. 1 name kept on being repeated Yaly, its meant to be abit more expensive but they use better material and are better tailors. When we were walking around we just popped into a random one just to see what it was like, and we got shown gucci mags and other fashion magazines. but i didnt really like the feel of the place and it was also empty which isnt a very good sight. When we got to Yaly's it was packed full of people being measured up. so i thought i would have a little look for a suit. Every man needs a suit, i showed the girl what style i wanted. I just wanted a dark pinstripe suit because they always look smart and will always be in fashion. Yaly's are also famous for having the biggest choice of fabric in Hoi An. There was just rolls and rolls of the stuff.
I finally made my choice, for a tailor made black pin stripe suit $55 about 25 quid you cant even buy one from asda for that!
but i was still umming and erring, until i was measured up. i could just tell they were pros and this suti would fit me perfectly. Other then what material i wanted i had to choose the style, i went for a single breasted number, with two buttons. i also had to choose how i wanted my pockets. everything was my choice. It was really good. i went in there for about an hour. we left at 4pm and was told it would be ready in 24 hours.
Today i poppeddown for the fitting i thought the trousers were abit baggy so they sorted that out but the jacket was fine. I looked great if i do say so myself!!
its going to be abit of a nightmare carrying it around but it will be good for interviews in oz. so its worth it.
Tonight we are on a bus for 12 hours(proberly end up more) its a local bus down to Nha Trang. wont have a toilet this time. hopefully we have some more of that great music all night!
