We left the Phi Phi Islands for mainland town of Krabi. The town itself I thought lacked in any character, but the boat trip away krabi islands is what makes this place special, so I have heard. We were only stopping there as we were heading 5hrs south on a minibus to Hat Yai to pop to the Malaysian border to increase our visas. We had to walk a couple of kilometers to the border over no-mans land to Malaysia and back to Thailand in the heat of the day - and believe me it was a hot day. From Hat Yai we booked a non-stop 17hr sleeper train to the capital, Bangkok.
