Helo all. Would just like to start by saying how anoyed I am. I purchased an internet card yesterday and from then to now have managed to loose it so have had to bye another. Boo! Anyway ill fill you all in. We left Greymouth for Franz Joseph. This is the next town over. Stopped at the gold mining town of Ross and looked at some big lumps of Gold. Didnt take part in any gold panning so am not rich or anything. Then on to Franz Joseph. This is a small town, well one street realy but people come from far and wide to check out the Glasiers, so I have come from far and wide to do that very thing. Decided to do the full day hike so the next day headed out to meet the group and guide of coarse to take us to the Glacier. Its prtty cool to see. Its basically a mass of ice (well thick ice) That sort of flows in the valley of two mountains. The weather and climat make it so that snow and rain falls and freezes making this large ice mass that kind of advances and retreats all the time. Thats kind of the science behind it anyhow. Its like a visual illusion when you look at as it looks so small and close however this is totally the wrong perspective as the b***** is huge as you realise when you start to walk it. We were out for several hours and only wnet one tenth the way up. It was raining throughout as well so was very wet. It was cool though. Had spike shoes on to grip the ice underfoot and had to scramble through ice tunnels and through cravasses. The guide had to dig out the paths and steps with a big axe as the rain and weather causes the path to be lost. It was a realy cool day, even if it was wet. Only fell on my arse once aswell which is good for clumsy me.
The next day in Franz Joseph was an awesome day weather wise, how sickening! I went on an hours horse treck through the riverbed, farmland and bushland. Realy good day. Then Laundry (I know you probably dont care about that) and a film. A lazy day today.
Moving on from Franz Joseph to Wanaka. This place is realy beautifull. Its NZ fith biggest lake and surrounded by alpine mountains and forest. Im in hostel that looks right out over this so find myself spending alot of time just staring out of the window. Not to relaxed however as the next morning is adrenalin time. Tandem 12000 feet skydive, woo hoo! Picked up at 9.30 and taken to airstrip. It realy funny actually as when I did the dive in England spent 6 hours waiting around and an hour of training. This was a 5 minute instruction DVD in back of the van, sign your life away, into suite then on plane. Before I knew It I was out of there and falling through the sky. The whole thing seemed to be over with in less that an hour. Awesome trill though. I have DVD and pictures of the jump however my have to load them on a later date when time not so short. A strole in the afternoon to come down from the rush and a trip to Puzzeling world which is a museum of illusions and weired stuff. Messed a bit too much with my brain so needed a lyedown in the afternoon.
Anyhow will put photos on soon. Love you all xxx
