I cant start this journal entry without mentioning ... we had the best vegetarian chinese meal EVER last night!!! best meal so far without a doubt! And were off down to the sme restaurant tonight for another massive feed up!! had a couple vodka redbulls last night...but still taking it easy!! saving ourselves for the partys in Thailand!!
We are both so pleased that we decided to stop off here in Yangshou before heading to Hongkong, was the best deision we have made!! Today was so great!! To begin with it was the first hot day we have experienced since in China...so we were happy to take off our layers!! We hired bikes from our hotel and cycled out of the town to the nearby countryside. The scenery was amazing, all surrounded my the enormous limestone peaks...we rode along the river, past farming land and random cattle being taken for walks! and through a few tiny villages ... where it was lovely to be greeted with a friendly wave and a "hello" from the local people (a little bit of a different reception than you would recieve if riding through Bognor!!) We stopped many times to admire the beautful views before headind off again..just making sure we remembered the route back!
Both having a great time here, and will be sad to leave tomorrow night for Hongkong...not sure if we are ready for the busy big city again...but certainly ready for the sun of Thailand on the 1st!!yay!! realised how white we both look its horrible!!! (oh yes becky gadd...maybe you are a little more white!)
China is sometimes so chilled out, i love it!...lots of people in this town sit about in front of shops playing cards and games, little kids seem to go to work with the parents in cafes and shops, just love the way that they dont seem to have any worries and look extremely happy passing the time with their palls knitting clothes on the pavement! Every opportunity people get to tak to us and practice their Engish, they do! last night in the bar we had various students sittng with us chatting...can you imagine people making the effort to do that to foreigners in England?! i dont thnk so!
The only thing that i feel a little too freaky about this town is ...the dead skinned rabbits (..laying on their front facing you with their ears sticking up! (i took a pic so you could all suffer with the image with me!) they really scare me as im walkling through the food markets!! needless to say my veggi restaurant is not within a good distance of this market!
