Round the World with Jolly & Mac...
TIA
One thing I've noticed since I started my travels is that we Brits like to complain - a lot. Sometimes I think we don't even know we're doing it, to us our negative words are nothing more than throwaway comments not intended to be taken as serious dissatisfaction. Rather than pointing out what moaners we all are however, the African locals have a foolproof answer to all British tourist grumbles. 'TIA', they say, often with an accompanying shrug of their shoulders and an additional 'hakuna matata'.Brit: 'I can't believe it's raining again! Isn't it supposed to be the dry season?'
Local: 'TIA'
Brit: 'My white trousers are covered in mud.'
Local: 'TIA' <shrug>
Brit: 'There's a large lizard climbing up the side of the toilet...'
Local: 'TIA, hakuna matata!'
Brit: 'What do you mean we can't jump off the rocks because there are hippos in the lake?!'
Local: 'TIA, my friend'.
Translation? This is Africa. No worries. --- Proper blog update coming tomorrow!
