Hey everyone,
I am about 30hrs away from landing in Ecuador and thought I would start off the blog before I head out.
My bag is packed (65L) and it is heavier than I initially expected. How badly do I need underwear I am pondering? Adam somehow fit all his stuff into a 40L bag although he has 2 pairs of undies for 4 months (I'll let you know how that goes as the trip progresses :p).
If all goes according to plan and TACA airlines comes through, I'll arrive tomorrow just past midnight. James will be waiting for me in airport with open arms and maybe Chariots of Fire (a la madagascar) playing in the background, an we will taxi to a nearby hostel.
Quito (capital) is located in the Andes 100km south of the equator and just over 9300ft above sea level. At the elevation, you supposedly can feel the reduced pressure and lack of oxygen...they advise to avoid beer for the first day...hmmm?
At this point I most excited for Galapagos island, Machu Picchu, and the beaches of Rio but I am going to bet that my top 3 will change in 114 days:)
I'd like to give a shout out to my mom for driving all the way back from Killbear to drive me to the airport, your the best! I promise I won't forget my passport this time :p
Cheers,
Jord
