Well I'm now at home and what a joy it is to be back in the very beautiful Dagenham. I can't think why I ever left this place...
I thought I should cover off my last couple of days on tour just so the story is complete.
As planned I managed to get an early night on Monday in preparation in preparation for the inevitable carnage that would be my 'last night on tour' on Tuesday. Although I got an early night I did not by any means get a good night sleep as a b**** of a cold suddenly hit and the relentless coughing kind of wiped out the prospect of sleeping well...
So to Tuesday... feeling slightly groggy I decided to head to Bondi Beach for the afternoon. This would be a last ditch attempt to top up the tan as well as a chance to try and sweat out the germs I seemed to have acquired... it was a nice chilled out afternoon. The afternoon was made evening better when Emily (hardcore drinking partner from Frazer Island/Rainbow Beach) joined me on there... especially as she brought me a bottle of Sprite (cute and brings me refreshments - what more can one ask??)... anyway we spent about an hour or so sunbathing and chatting on the beach (recalling the drunken exploits of our separate adventures over the last week or so!)... it was nice :)
As the sun started to go down we decided to make plans for the evening i.e. where and how we would get wasted! :-P A plan was formed, we would head back to Emily's motel and pick up a 4 litre goon sack on the way... the plan was, and it was executed rather successfully, to get drunk on the goon and then head into central Sydney. Hayley (also of Frazer Island/Rainbow Beach fame) and her loverman (name escapes me!) would meet us at the motel. Unfortunately they arrived somewhat later than planned and, with most of the goon already consumed (drinking games had taken place!), me and Emily answered the door laying on the floor with sunglasses on... :) Funny times!!!
This is where the memory starts to get less precise... I believe we headed into central Sydney (maybe 10ish?) with me and Emily heading briefly to my hostel for me to get changed out my beach gear and Hayley/her fella heading to a bar called Side Bar... after what felt like a marathon expedition me and Emily managed to locate the bar and eventually our friends...
At this point the recollection becomes even worse. I really cannot remember what we did in the bar and for how long but if I was a betting man I'd imagine it involved a few Jagerbombs... pretty sure it was fun times, in fact I'm certain!! I do remember one classic thing Emily said during the night but I'm going to keep that for my personal memories... :)
Leaving the bar/getting back to a bed - who knows? I have not got a clue. Thankfully I woke up in a happy place!! However I did wake up minus my wallet... who cares?! It was worth it...
What a good night and with good people.
On Wednesday prior to going to the airport I did much of nothing and just layed around relaxing in a rather comfortable spot I'd created for myself... ;)
So to the journey to the airport... made possible through Emily lending me 20 dollars... a pretty depressing journey as it signified the end of the trip and last time I would see some new friends for a long time. Thankfully things at the airport went swimmingly this time (Johannesburg airport I still hold a grudge!!) and I boarded the flight without a hitch. The 8 hour flight to Bangkok was boring and as uncomfortable as hell. After a couple of hours in Bangkok I boarded the 13 hour flight to London... managed to get three seats in a row to myself so I sprawled out and got some much needed kip!!
Landed in London about 7am. After a 20 minute Christmas present buying spree in the duty free at Heathrow I made my way home via Heathrow Express/London Underground. What a miserable (and cold) place London is!!!!! I got home about 9.30am, getting nicely mauled by my dogs as I walked through the door :) I've missed those two dopes!!
So that was that. Journey over. Home for Christmas...
To all the great people I met (too many to list) on this trip thanks for the happy times and making the journey what it was... it's all about the people! I hope I'll see you all again someday...
Agent Withington over and out.
P.S. The wallet subsequently turned up! Found by Emily in Sydney... what a star! :)
