Hi all VA here !!! After leaving the Lyn going crazy 3am ferry.Did wonder did I need to find a mental hospital on south as Lyn isn't good with sleep deprivation.Think she goes back to 3 years of age. We left the ferry at Picton and slept yet again in a car park - we had two hours sleep before finding a lovely campsite next to the river in Blenheim. They couldn't take us until 11 so we OH DEAR we found shopping time again. Once on the campsite we did our very needed van housework and washed not only our bodies but also our clothes after giving Lyn her new look hair cut. We relaxed under the trees and did some much needed beauty treatments.
Now feeling like the Lyn and Vicky you all know - we went for a gorgeous Valentine's day dinner together - it was beautiful. Lovely walk home lovely sleep.
Lynne here - although I've now love my short hair look it was a very big shock to see myself hairless but couldn't go on with the facilities we had regarding drying hair and keeping it in order I looked like somthing that had been dragged through a hedge backwards.
Monday we commenced our journey south and saw some of the most amazing scenery we've encountered on this trip - we can't believe the lack of traffic we drove for approximately 4 hours and saw maybe 10 vehicles. We drove past what looked like a small makeshift airfield with gliders taking off. We stopped and VA asked if we could re-enact the Thomas Crowne Affair film - and have a flight - the old guys who were big characters and very happy after VA's kisses - said they would take us up one at a time.
We had no money so went to the store and begged them to give us cash so we could experience the flight of a lifetime.
I went first and it was amazing the rush when it goes up vertically is heart-stopping. Then VA had her maiden flight and I'll let her put it in her own words.
GORGEOUS !!!
We then drove and drove through some more spectacular scenery stopping every two seconds for VA to take photos. We drove to the coast to a seal colony at Touranga Bay just before dusk - we saw lots of seals and experienced the most unbelievable sunset either of us have ever seen before we both cried. Again we slept in the van at the side of the main road overlooking the ocean.
We are now in Hokitika and have just showered in the car park in the van - Vicky is no longer a virgin to the van shower.
