If you've ever wondered if it's a good idea to sleep in on one of the days you aren't stopping anywhere on a cruise while there also happens to be a time change the answer is no, it's not the best idea. We woke up around 9am, but soon realized it was really 10. We missed breakfast at the nice restaurant so we had to go to the buffet, which they started closing down as soon as we got there. We were like rabid hyena trying to get scraps of a rotting zebra corps. It was not pretty. At one point they started roping the place off and Kim and I got separated. Lucky for her she was on the inside while I was stuck piling whatever was left at the ends of the buffet onto my plate. Needless to say it wasn't the best start to the day.
Bingo was at 11 so we inhaled what we could of our breakfast and rushed off to the bingo hall. Bingo would have been a relatively short inexpensive thrill had they not had a package that included pull tabs. We won $3...spent way more. But it was fun, and I discovered my new favorite drink: whiskey sour!
After bingo we were once again rushing this time to the free champagne art auction, which lasted three hours. I almost bought some art out of boredom. It's a good thing I was deathly afraid of the reaction Kim would have if I told her; "hey babe, guess what? I just spent $16,000 on a painting from an artist neither of us never heard about! Want to hang it in the bathroom?"
Because the art auction lasted longer than we thought we didn't have time for lunch before we had to rush off to the second bingo game of the day...the SECOND BINGO GAME of the day!! But the last game was for a chance to stay the rest of the cruise in the owners suite. That would have been nice to win. I got a free shirt though! It says bingo on it...
After our second failed attempt at bingo we were defeated and starving. And it was an odd time, too early for dinner, too late for lunch. The buffet was probably open but we didn't want to deal with that again so we decided on the burger place that is always open. It was ok. I had an angus burger with a side of wings while Kim had the fish and chips. The fish came with this weird green sauce that had absolutely no flavor at all. The wings were mediocre, the blue cheese that came with it sucked. My burger was pretty good.
After a rough day we headed back to the room and took a quick nap. But it was a restless one as we didn't want to oversleep and miss the nights entertainment: A Beatles Experience! We walked out after two songs. If you're going to try and be an authentic tribute band, you should probably have a better fake accent. It was pretty bad.
Our night ended with just watching movies in our room. Besides the whiskey sour discovery today was kind of a wash.
