Cape to Cairo & Beyond with John & Marina
About Us
Friday 28 May 2010 - Home! - Johannesburg, South Africa

"There is something about Africa that inspires us to travel, an unexplorable urge to explore and learn from a place in which, ultimately, our roots lie". (Anon)
To paraphrase a quote from Mark Twain, in twenty years time we will be more disappointed with the things we did not do, rather than with the things we did.
So, we are going to dust off the gps, get the Beast (landcruiser) sorted, pack the carrier and cameras, and go explore, dream, discover.
What started as a plan …

re: SchoolSandey Nice track Mr. Please Next time advice me to be your Guide in Ruaha. Hope your will never re grate.
re: On the road to RuahaKatie Amboseli National Park is great for capturing some quintessential shots of Africa- elephants and lions crossing the plaines with the snow-capped Kilimanjaro in the distance. Kenya safaris are a fantastic experience, and the locals are so friendly.
re: Amboseli National Park, KenyaGraeme and Les Great to have the intrepid travellers home safe and sound after a long , adventurous and often crazy journey. We will sure miss your blogs, photos and the fantastic history lessons on all the regions you visited. Congrats -- PLEASE get going again asap --we don't know what to do with ourselves in the evenings without receiving all your photos & newsletters etc. !!@*?#

re: Pasteis nata de BelemShirley Tart Even a little tear from this side of the world as the great Beast was released. We have fond memories of her (yes, she IS a 'her' - and my grammar is usually better than that) on our driveway earlier this year and of you two during all your wonderful travels and adventures. Guess we all feel we have shared a little of it with you. Lots of love from Coalbrookdale.
re: Johannesburg, South Africachris WOW!!!! Words fail me....you guys are phenomenal - Dont stop now! Aussie is waiting...

Words must be difficult to describe the feeling when arriving in Cairo. I am sure a dream come true for the both of you and it is something to cherish for all the years to come. John, well done old boy!!!!!!, very proud of you!!! Look forward to JUST the boys having an afternoon chat about the whole trip. You can sit on your lazy ass while I braai serve beer, biltong, crisps, boerewors rolls, fillet and we can top it off with a quiet whisky. Marina, what can I say .........., behind every man there's a great woman..... I am sure the old man agrees with me on this one. Let's hope we make a million and see you in the UK!!!!!!!!! It's always worth dreaming, isn't that how Cape to Cairo started? Cheers for now, Youngster!!!
